Jessica Helen Lopez is the City of Albuquerque Poet Laureate, Emeritus. She is a current Adjunct Instructor with the University of New Mexico Chican@ Studies Department and the Institute of American Indian Arts. A NM Humanities Council Chautauqua Scholar, she can be found hosting the PBS arts-based show, COLORES! Lopez also teaches poetry at the Native American Community Academy where she is the coach/mentor for RezSpit, All Indigenous, All Queer Youth Poetry Collective. Member of the Macondo Foundation, founded by Sandra Cisneros, oftentimes Lopez is found washing the perpetual mound of dishes in her quaint and rustic kitchen, feeding her vast pack of chihuahuas and playing chauffeur to her teenage daughter. She is living the life.
